Become a Speaker

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Free Speech speaker.

There is a one-time membership fee of $35, which covers administrative fees. This fee does not guarantee a certain number of talks. That’s up to the groups, but we do make every effort to give you exposure. When ten or so new speakers join Free Speech, we send out a “New to Free Speech” email newsletter to approximately 400+ groups. Hopefully, this gets you started with a bang.

We receive requests for the list of topics almost daily from group program chairpersons. After he or she has had a chance to review the list, the chairperson will request a speaker(s). If you’re chosen we e-mail you a form that lets you know your topic has been selected and provides the contact person’s name, phone number and email address. At that point, we step aside.

Within two days, you call the contact person. Go over the details, the date, the directions, etc. Be sure to exchange phone numbers. Frequently, the contact person will request a written bio about you. Send (fax/e-mail) this to him or her immediately. Many of these groups publish your information in their organization’s newsletter and/or send a press release to their local newspaper.

It is a firm policy of Free Speech that you call the group within two days. Even if you have to turn down the talk, please call within two days. You do not need to inform us whether you accepted or declined the request.
